From its hillside perch at Trump Winery, Albemarle Estate looks every bit the picture of a Piedmont manor house. Inside, this 26,000-square-foot bed-and-breakfast boasts ten private rooms and gorgeous areas for dining and relaxing both inside and out, including the rose garden veranda where Harvest Moon Catering hosted the autumn lunch featured in Our Local Commons, Vol. III. Yet the pristine, regal house enjoyed now by guests was recently transformed through a multiyear renovation to restore it to the vision of its creator, architect David Easton, a specialist in Georgian-style design.
Much care and time was poured into the renovation, and when it was complete, Patrick Butler, event manager at Trump Winery, knew that Albemarle Estate—surrounded by 1,300 acres of pristine land, with a 195-acre vineyard—would offer guests a completely different hospitality experience. “It is great to have accommodations on the property that connect people to the land and to farming,” says Patrick.
Once the bed-and-breakfast was ready for guests, Patrick sought developed a list of Charlottesville area vendors that guests could draw upon for events at the house. “We pride ourselves on working with local vendors and are fortunate to live in a town with many great options,” Patrick says. Among those on this select list was Harvest Moon Catering, which frequently caters events at one of the winery’s three venues. Patrick has long been impressed with Harvest Moon. “As one of our highly regarded vendor partners, we could not be more thrilled to highlight their unending talents,” he says.
